Overview

Clients is your internal directory of client organizations — separate from the CRM contact/company directory, though the two are related. It tracks each client’s status and contract value, lets you invite a client as a client-role workspace member scoped to their own organization, and generates a shareable, expiring portal link that gives an external client a read-only view of their own projects, invoices, and pending approvals — without needing a full login. It reads from CRM (client records), Finance (invoices), and Projects (per-client projects).

Where to find it

Core workflows

Add a client

  1. Go to Clients and add a new client organization.
  2. Set Status — Active · Inactive · Prospect — and a Contract value, used in the directory’s revenue totals.

Invite a client as a member

  • Invite links a specific client organization to a new workspace member with the client role. The invite is rejected server-side if it isn’t tied to a client organization, so a client-role member can never end up unlinked from an org.
  • The client role cannot create, edit, or delete records anywhere in the workspace (read-only by design) — see Permissions below.
  1. Open a client’s detail page and generate a portal link (manager role or above).
  2. The link is copied to your clipboard and expires automatically (30 days by default).
  3. Anyone with the link sees a read-only page listing that client’s projects, invoices (with outstanding vs. paid status), and any pending approvals on their projects — no AmDital login required. This is a share-a-link mechanism, not a persistent client login account.

Set an Account Manager

  • Open a client’s detail page and click Edit next to Account Manager to assign a real workspace member — saved immediately to that client record.

Client detail tabs

The client detail page (reached via /clients/[id], which redirects to the equivalent CRM client page) has five tabs: Overview, Invoices, Projects, Tickets, and Notes.

Known limitations

  • The Tickets tab on a client’s detail page doesn’t load real ticket data yet — it always shows empty, regardless of whether that client actually has support tickets.
  • The New Invoice, New Project, and New Ticket buttons inside the client detail tabs are not wired up yet — use the main Finance/Projects/Support modules to create these instead.
